Sonali Chakraborty Foundation

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

The foundation is a government registered public charitable trust which aims to extend and perpetuate the benevolence that Sonali Chakraborty epitomized in her lifetime. To put things into perspective, Sonali, apart from holding office of the Additional Excise Commissioner, Government of West Bengal, was particularly known in her fraternity for her generosity. As a brief background of her career in public service, Sonali had served the Government of West Bengal, as a WBCS Group-A officer, for twenty-five years, cut short by the only eventuality of humankind.... Being amongst the youngest of the batch of '92, she was one of the very few female officers in her ranks. She always took immense pride in the integrity and righteousness of effectuating her duties, while being draped in a saree every single day she took office. Apart from her compassion towards associates and people around her, she is still remembered by her colleagues for her remarkable emphasis on very high moral standards and humanity above everything, even at the cost of personal sacrifices at times, all with an indelible smile on her face.

To commemorate her indomitable spirit, the Foundation wishes to undertake projects which can change the quality of life of the beneficiaries with a focus on the underprivileged women. The endeavours will have the priority of efforts in the augmentation of infrastructure in the educational sector. The foundation believes that optimal utilization of existing resources can bring significant changes and is possible with a little extra effort and compassion of the stakeholders. The Foundation wants to stand by these good Samaritans and mobilise that extra push needed to actualise this.
